We haven’t tried Longitano’s for a while so we decided to go and give it another chance.  It was actually getting better.  Although the spaghetti was too runny for me, it was just how L likes it.  So we exchanged our orders.  I had the lasanna and that was pretty good.  The menu also got bigger and have more stuff.  We should go there more often.

It was a wintery day.  We went out for a drive after the severe weather warning went away. It was a great day and the pictures reminded me how blue the sky was.  I used the 16mm lens in the Sony NEX 7 camera thinking that I would try to get used to it for the upcoming trip.  However, that slowed down my blogging intention.  I have to go down to my macbook pro to import the pictures before I can upload them to the blog.  Got to find a better way to do this.

Using the free app IS builder and changed my iphone home screen background today. I was looking for something that I saw on someone’s blog but this isn’t it. However, there are so many apps now for anything you want to do on your IOS devices, it’s amazing.

It’s an uneventful day, Tido is trying to stay warm as the weather is bad still, snowing a lot. The snow drift is high next to our garage and our front door. I went out and plowed it twice today. Supposedly, our condo is responsible to do the plowing for us, however, they must be very busy and haven’t been able to keep up with the snow. And they haven’t hand plowed the little walk way from the front door to our drive way either. Makes walking the dog a bit challenging.

Talked to the kids today and our vacation plan is coming together. We’ll all meet in CA and spend a few days in Sonoma. Ey is renting a house for all of us for a few days. It will be fun having everyone there in a relaxed mood. I’m getting excited to go.

Trips coming up this year, Ca, Augusta and Finland. It’s going to be a busy traveling year. Will have lots of photos to post I’m sure.

This is a very cold and snowy day. When Leo told me it’s snowing hard in the morning and I decided to cancel my dance lesson, I didn’t realize it was as bad as it was. Not until we went out in the afternoon when there was a break in the weather, that I realized it was really bad. The side streets are slushy and slippery, our car did slip a little. The Main Street was fine since the city had a chance to plow it. But it’s really cold.

I went to Hobby Lobby while Leo went to Giant Eagle. The monkey charm caught my eye and I got it for my Midori bookmark. It fits nicely and I’m a monkey so it fits me too.

I haven’t marked stuff down in my filofax for a few days and it’s hard to try to remember things I did on Wednesday. Nothing came to mind. I usually like to jot down food I ate, and appointments or tasks I’ve done in it. But I have been neglecting it in the last few days. One of the habits I need to establish this year.

Saw Nadine’s youtube clip about Project Life today. And it peaked my interest. Not to do the paper one, but maybe the digital format. So I went over to their site and downloaded their free one for digital Project Life. Don’t know what I will do with it or how to use it yet. But plan to use photoshop to make something with it. If I like it, I will purchase other templates from them. The idea is a good one. Keep a record of your life with photos and quotes and beautiful objects.

The workflows from Federico Viticci I installed from his book are great! They are mostly designed to be used with blog writing. I can search for selected text on Google and find the link I need and insert it around the selected text with two clicks. This is great!

I have struggled for a day on uploading an image to my web server using an Editorial workflow, get the remote URL and use another workflow to insert the image and the link at the top of a blog.

I think I have finally achieved this. Now the last step is to post this to my blog and see if it works.

And it did!! Yay!!! Now I can use the iphone to take a picture, let it sync to my ipad via photo stream, upload the photo from my ipad to the web server using Editorial, get the remote URL, use another Editorial workflow to insert it into a new document, write my blog, and finally post the blog with yet another workflow in Editorial. Voila, and it’s up and published. The first goal in my attempt to learn Editorial and phythonista accomplished.

I didn’t write all the workflows. I just modified the ones I found on Macdrifter and ones that are in the eBook on Editorial by Federico Viticci. I stumbled on the SFTP for a while, had to fix the permission, the log in, the destination file structure and finally got everything working. It’s a learning process. But it is fun and it’s what I enjoy doing. It’s a happy day.

Just modified the ‘Post to WordPress‘ script from Viticci’s iBook on Editorial and successfully posted a test blog. I had to remove some codes that didn’t work, ones like retrieving categories and tags from my site. And I had to hard code my login and password too. Those are the things I have to work out in the future. But I know nothing about Python and this is the first Editorial script I used, so I took the easy way. But even that, I am pretty happy.

I am going to change the way I blog totally, but I’m looking forward to learning Editorial and all its goodies. For example, I was able to get the link for the ‘Post to WordPress’ script by clicking on ‘Links’ under the tools icon (another script from Viticci) and it’s automatically inserted for selected text. Lots of goodies to try out.

Don’t know how to insert a photo yet. I used to take a photo with my iphone and use the WordPress app to create a new blog and publish it. Then go back from the browser to add text in. Now, I don’t know what I’ll do. But I’m sure I will figure out a way to do it. This is the kind of things I did for my job for year s and years. And it’s interesting to me. Something to keep me motivated and learn new things. I’m excited.

I cheated and used the browser to upload this photo from my ipad. The photo was taken on the iphone and photo streamed to ipad. A convoluted way to get the picture here. Got to find a better way.

Now later: I reinstalled the script again, and this time, it worked after I put in the xmlrpc URL, and entered the Fill Login fields. I don’t need to hard code my username and password or alter any other code, well except in the end where it tries to get the shortened URL. I don’t know how to fix that, so I put my blogs URL in there. All is well.

The high chair for my craft table has arrived, it’s a
Boss Caresoft Medical/Drafting Stool with Cushion from Amazon.  Putting it together is as others have said on the review to be easy. The longest it took me is to put the chair back on the cushion, once I figured out the orientation, everything else is obvious and quick. The height is just right for my craft table. It’s actually more comfortable than my computer desk for some reason. My arms feel more supported on the table and my lower back is closer to the back of the chair and feel more supported also. All in all, it’s a good purchase. I am glad that I went ahead with it.

I always love to have a big table to spread things out for reading and writing, for everything. Now with the addition of the high chair, I can actually sit at the big 4 x 8 craft table and work. I am so happy! This is exactly what I need to do any kind of work. The office table is so restricting, even though it’s a very nice one. It’s good for photo and video processing, but for other work, I will sit out here in an open area and enjoy the view out the picture window. I am in heaven!!

The inserts for Midori also arrived and pens from Jetpen too. It’s a goody day. The weather is brutally cold here in Kent, so it’s a good day to stay home and enjoy the goodies.

Time to attack the projects. Writing the blog on the ipad with the logitech bluetooth keyboard is nice. But the wordpress app on my ipad is not so good. Something is absolutely wonky. If I have a picture in my blog, I can’t move my cursor to a certain spot if I need to make a correction. Need to find a better way to write the blog. The only good thing about it is the preview. But I guess I could give up on that since I’m not using the preview to aid any formatting.

One of my goals for this year is to find the best workflow for vlog and start vlogging a bit. Trying my Sony NEX-7 camera, first with the 18-55mm kit lens, then the 16mm. Just starting out and the video is shaky. Need to practice more to improve the quality. We will try to do a lot of videos and photos on our Finland trip. So it’s a good time to start practicing now.

The first little clip is up.  It shows Leo prepping for the stuffed cabbages and then him cleaning the coffee roaster.  It’s a start.  🙂

I haven’t had a dance lesson since Christmas. First it’s the craziness of the holiday, then a bad weather happened, then I got sick for a week. This is the first time I have one with Tim in 2014. That’s a record, I guess.

We worked on a pattern on Michael Kielm’s Tip series. It’s got crazy turns for the follower in the last half. I still can’t do it perfectly. But it’s fun to learn new things.

Talked to Z and E about their computer security. It’s always a concern for a business. I’m glad I am not a business owner for sure.

Made another book for Midori yesterday. I got a streamline long arm stapler and a flatbed trimmer. It helps a lot with making the book. And I tried a thinner paper this time, 22lb instead of 24lb. Used the lined templater from mylifeallinoneplace. Not sure which one I like better. Need to give it time and use it more.

There is a whole new world of people who like to use paper and pen. I am watching a lot of art journaling on youtube. And just got my first stamp and ink pad yesterday from Joann and want to give it a try. I can see a new hobby starting…
