Two used books about Tasha Tudor arrived today. I am enjoying one of them with a cup of tea on the side. Splendid afternoon spent in her old world of handmade goodies. Her baskets, her potteries, her wreaths made from fresh or dried flowers. What a wonderful world she lived in and I am one of the lucky ones to discover the books and share her joy with the pictures. I am a contradiction of modern technology fan and old world crafts. I have the latest iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and I turn fleece into yard to knit practical items for love ones. I ca never live like Tasha Tudor but I am utmostly impressed by her and fascinated by her garden, her home and her crafts.

Ryan and Elim were over for a cookout Dunday.  We had a grand time enjoying each other’s company.  Steaks, hamburger, and hotdogs as usual suspects.  Grill was put to good use.  And we discovered and engineered a new plan for a basket to be drawn up and and down between the porch and the grill. Leo manned the upstairs and we were down under doing the grilling.  It worked perfectly.  And we wondered why we didn’t think of this in almost 9 years in this condo.

Stopped at an alpaca farm in the way home a few weeks ago, and the owner Mary sold me a bag of white fleece for $10  it turned out to be too short to spin, it is 1.5-2″  although  carded it and was able to make some yarn with it, it was difficult .

Mary found a second bag of fleece for me that has longer staple length. After washing it and coming it, I spun up a bit.  I’m more comfortable at spinning lace yarn, but trying to spin a bit thicker for a sweater.  Waiting to see if I can make a cable sweater with it

Tried to find a way to post from Day One to this WordPress blog today.  Found out there is a newer version of Day One, so I updated both my MAC and Iphone for it.  First the journal file won’t sync between the two.  After trying different syncing server and after matching the Day One version on both devices, and syncing now to Day One server for both, they finally showed up on both.  It was not clear from the get-go though.

Then trying to post a Day One entry to this wordpress blog was another hurdle.  The email from the generic WP settings does not work.  Went across a Google search result that mentioned Postie in my research.  Installed it and the email from Day One has all been sucked in.  Another hurdle jumped through.

All of this to solve the problem of sending images from the iphone easily to the blog with text.  Now I can journal in Day One and choose to either post it by emailing it to WordPress or not.  Mark this as an accomplishment for today.

I finally got the brush pen sample from Jetpen out today and tried them.   It is easier with the form/hard pen than the brush pen as a beginner.  However if I want to play with colors, I think I need to practice with the paint brushes.  And I found I like the smaller ones, even the 00 size brush.  And using a cheap set of water color from Michaels is more than sufficient for the purpose.

This is one of the things I am “playing” with since I took a break from ballroom dancing.  I am reading more, journaling more, playing with colors and knitting more.  Things I put aside when my focus was on dancing and taking 4-5 lessons a week.  I was usually exhausted after the lessons and called it the day when I got home.  Now I have a lot more time since I’m not spending 90 minutes commuting to and from the studio, plus time working on the computer after the lessons.  I feel free and creative and turned my attention to more spiritual matters too.  I don’t know where this will lead me, but I am ready.

Ryan and Elim’s wedding went off spectacularly and smoothly.  Everything turned out well thanks to the hard work of the wedding planner and the couple themselves.  They put in a lot of thoughts even with their busy work schedule.  I am very impressed and relieved that I didn’t have to plan it.   I would have gone crazy and still wouldn’t have planned as well a wedding as they did.

The Reception

Of course many thoughts went through my mind but I can’t put them in words yet.  Maybe later after everything sinks in a bit.  But I am happy for them.  I feel relieved that Elim has settled down.  I am excited about the beginning of their life together.  I am happy.

I’ve been binge listening to Caroline Myss’s books and videos.  It’s overwhelming.  But it’s like water in the desert, I just can’t stop listening to them and go back and listen to them again.  I wake up with it and going to sleep with it immersing myself in what she teaches.   There is a lot to absorb and it really will take time to allow everything to sink in and make sense.  But I am glad that I have found her works.  It takes me to prayers and reflection.  And it helps me to look at what’s happening in my life in a different way and learn not to ask why things happen to me but accept them as the bible says, everything has its time and there is no new things in the world.  Nothing has happened to me that had not happen to someone else before.  I am not that special and I am here to humbly experience them.

This afternoon after writing in my journal, I put her on youtube and came downstairs and finished this page from Millie Marotta’s Tropical World coloring book.  This is the first page I finished and it took me two sessions and a long time in between.  I intended to do more coloring with different media for a while.  But I have not really spent time in it.  It is like knitting, a great way to listen to a book and also keep the hands busy.  It’s a perfect combo for me.

The Easter season probably has something to do with the colors I chose.  It feels like spring looking at it and it’s a surprise to me of the colors I chose.  I’m usually drawn to deeper colors as shown in the face which I did a while back.  Interesting.

sony50-28-06 Butterfly

Got the Sony SEL 50F18 lens for my NEX 7 and tried it out first time.  I think I got the best Benny pictures from it.  He isn’t in a high energy mode, just sitting around near me and wondering why I kept calling his name.  But I think I got his essence in these two pictures.  He is not full of energy like a puppy any more.  But he is still giving his full attention to you and see what you want from him.  He is such a good dog.

The butterfly in person isn’t that impressive.  But with the bokeh of F1.8, man it looks great.  I do like this lens.  Didn’t need to do much.  If you have good light, you get good pictures.
